SAFe® and Scrum for High-Performance Engineering

We supported the agile transformation and scaling of a German luxury sports car manufacturer based on Scrum. The focus was on introducing and establishing agile working methods, continuous development within the team, and overall coordination at program level through the role of an agile coach.

Shortcuts to the project

A central component of the project was taking on tasks as Scrum Master and Release Train Engineer (RTE) in a coordinating and strategic role at the program level. This included supporting a development team and proactively accompanying the continuous adaptation to the dynamic requirements and structural changes within the project. The project was characterized by constant change, which required frequent changes in team structures. After restructuring, these teams needed intensive support from the Agile Coach. Thanks to targeted coaching measures and a clear strategic focus, the teams were able to achieve their goals efficiently and sustainably improve their performance.

Our project approach

  1. Transformation and scaling

Designing and supporting transformation and change processes to promote agile working methods. Assisting with the introduction and scaling of development structures at program level, based on the principles and methods of the SAFe® framework.

  2. Coaching and team support

Support and coaching of teams in the implementation of agile methods, values, and practices in accordance with SAFe® Lean Agile principles. Facilitation and design of Scrum events (e.g., sprint planning, retrospectives, reviews). Intensive support for teams during periods of restructuring to ensure their rapid return to performance.

  3. Coordinating and strategic role

Preparation, moderation, and execution of cross-functional SAFe events such as PI planning or Inspect & Adapt. Stakeholder management and close collaboration with business representatives to promote the achievement of common goals. Analysis and strategic use of metrics (e.g., flow distribution, velocity, flow time) to optimize the project structure and reduce bottlenecks. Reduction of operational tasks through process improvements and strategic decisions.

  4. Realignment of the project structure

As part of the latest restructuring, we redesigned the project structure. The focus shifted from a purely technical perspective to a stronger emphasis on expertise and end-to-end (E2E) processes. This enabled us to better map technical requirements and optimize collaboration along the entire value chain.

  5. Workshops and training courses

Design and implementation of workshops on role clarification, team building, and process optimization. Technical training and continuing education for Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and other agile roles based on the SAFe® framework.

  6. Onboarding and offboarding

Supporting new team members during the onboarding and offboarding process to ensure team integration and performance.

Added value of the SAFe® framework

Greater agility and effectiveness within teams

Improved collaboration and coordination at the program level

Rapid restoration of team performance after restructuring through targeted coaching

Sustainable reduction of operating shares and a clear strategic focus

Optimized collaboration along E2E processes through the realignment of the project structure

Together, we can lay the foundation for agile scaling and strong teams—just get in touch!
