Project shortcuts

We designed and developed two new websites with a modern, new design for the marketing company of the city of Frankfurt am Main. This involved both the tourism website and a separate microsite for congresses in Germany and abroad. The aim was to make it easy for customers to navigate and use by providing clear structures. The websites should answer customer questions before they can be asked. In the course of the implementation, a smooth change of agency was required. The challenge was to get to grips with a new database and a new CMS. The booking routes and the TOMAS system had to be moved.

Our product    concept

For this web project, we use the TYPO3 content management system and the destination.data content management system for structured data. Via the destination.meta interface, all structured data such as tours or points of interest (POI) are integrated and displayed on the website in the appropriate look and feel using our fully integrated modules (destination.pages+).

We design the page structure in the TYPO3 CMS. The unstructured editorial content is inserted directly into the CMS and, depending on requirements, maps the various areas of the website with the help of modular stages.

Prioritizing Usability and UX

In order to clearly focus on the content of the website and the needs of the visitors, the tools used must also be standardized in the tourism sector. We have therefore decided to develop a product standard that enables sustainable maintenance and longevity of a website. Our product provides the technical requirements for user-friendliness, UX design, etc. and ensures that the modules and the project are always based on the latest version available in the product. Our destination websites are currently based on TYPO3 version 12. In order to keep our websites up to date, regular standardized updates will be carried out in the future. This includes monthly Composer updates as well as version updates, such as the long-term transition from TYPO3 version 12 to version 13.
