Shortcuts to the project
We have been working closely with the web team at Berge & Meer Touristik GmbH since 2016, enabling us to provide expert advice and support in designing the website architecture. We were able to gradually replace the previous PHP-based solution with a modern software architecture using new technologies such as Rails and Angular. Agile methods such as Scrum and Kanban enable the project team to work in close collaboration and implement new features quickly, despite being based in different locations. The new websites provide users with comprehensive information about the Berge & Meer product range. Intuitive and convenient operation was important to us—the new Aldi Reisen page in particular now shines with its responsive design on smartphones and tablets.
Technical facts about the websites
App approach
The architecture of the web platform is based on an app approach, which enables the web front ends to share a common back end and provides interfaces to CMS, product databases, and booking systems.
AWS
The Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform enables cost-effective responses to seasonal or promotion-related load fluctuations.
GitHub
Website development takes place on GitHub, with quality assurance based on the six-eyes principle.
User experience as the top priority
The goal of creating an intuitive website that is also easy to use for smartphone and tablet users thanks to responsive design has been exceeded. We are constantly optimizing the performance of the websites, paying particular attention to ensuring an optimal user experience for customers when searching for and booking tourist offers. This makes traveling an even more enjoyable experience.
