Hengst Filtration is internationally renowned for its innovative solutions in the field of filtration and fluid management. In order to adapt its website to current market requirements and provide content in multiple languages, our client was looking for a more efficient solution for the translation process. Since manual translations are very time-consuming, the goal was to initiate translations directly from Pimcore. The challenge was to connect Pimcore to the DeepL translation tool via API so that all translations could be automatically integrated into the right places on the website.
Our approach
Project launch with proof of concept
In November 2023, we launched the project with a proof of concept.
Phase 1 – Translation of content
We extracted all text modules from the documents and data objects and translated them into the target language, while retaining the existing page structure and internal links.
Phase 2 – Modular translations
Changes in the source language were adapted and translated in a modular fashion to minimize the amount of correction work required, as only new translations need to be checked.
Quick implementation
Within a short period of time, we implemented the DeepL connection for automated translations. The go-live took place in July 2024.
Automated translation for global expansion
The project resulted in a fully automated translation solution at the touch of a button. With the AI tool DeepL, editors can select in real time which of the available languages the content should be translated into. New languages can be easily added. Pimcore notifications inform editors about newly translated content, allowing them to review and adjust it before publication. A total of 110 documents and around 500 data objects were translated into 5 languages. The integration of DeepL into Pimcore has significantly improved our customer's international scalability. This allows new markets to be tapped more quickly and global customer management to be strengthened.
