Successful modernization of the GdP app

We completely modernized the existing app of the German Police Union (GdP) by redesigning the frontend and backend, improving user-friendliness, and successfully digitizing the patrol assistant. In doing so, we placed particular emphasis on data protection and increasing server security.

Shortcuts to the project

The Police Union (GdP) represents the professional, social, economic, environmental, and cultural interests of current and former police employees. It represents over 210,000 members and is the largest and most influential union in the police sector. For over 70 years, it has been working at all political levels to improve the working and living conditions of police employees. The GdP is a member of the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB). Our task was to modernize the existing app, with the core goal of both increasing user-friendliness and facilitating future maintenance and development work by switching to the Flutter framework. With the modernization, we were able to create a contemporary and technically robust solution for the GdP and its members. The digitized shift calendar and the patrol assistant form the core of the application and can also be used independently of a constant internet connection.

What requirements does the GdP app meet?

Offline First

The app works independently of a constant internet connection.

Digitization of the strip assistant

We integrated a digital version of the established print strip helper to make it easier to use and adapt it to everyday mobile life.

Data protection

User data is stored exclusively locally on the device to ensure maximum security and data protection.

Increased server security

We have modernized the backend server and enhanced its security to meet current standards.

The successful transformation of the strip assistant

The biggest challenge was the digital implementation of the Streifenhelfer. This module is based on a print medium with highly compressed, subject-specific information. Through close cooperation with the author of the Streifenhelfer, who contributed his expertise in numerous meetings, this domain knowledge was successfully transferred into a digital and user-friendly form.

Kickoff (September 2023)

Successful GdP app wins award

The collaboration with the GdP was extremely successful. The new app was not only received positively across the board, but also received the German Design Award 2025. Particular praise was given to the increased user-friendliness and the well-thought-out digitization of the patrol assistant.

With the GdP app, we now offer our colleagues genuine, state-of-the-art support for their everyday work. Our collaboration with team neusta was always highly professional and goal-oriented.
