KITALINO: Daycare app to support educational work

We develop digital applications that support educational professionals in daycare centers and nurseries with documentation, organization, communication, and continuing education. The KITALINO app offers a central platform for this purpose, helping to make everyday educational work safe and efficient.

Shortcuts to the project

As part of the project, we designed and developed digital applications that specifically support educational work in daycare centers and nurseries. The focus was on the educational daycare app KITALINO. This application combines key functions for the secure documentation and organization of everyday educational activities, promotes exchange and communication within the team and with families, and offers extensive opportunities for continuous professional development. KITALINO was designed to relieve the burden on educational professionals in their daily work while enhancing the quality of educational work. The app supports teams in systematically accompanying educational processes and working together with children and families to shape developmental paths step by step.

KITALINO makes observation smart

As part of the Observation function, the KITALINO daycare app provides a variety of standardized observation forms in digital form, including BaSiK (U3/Ü3), BB 1–6, Michaelis' developmental milestones, liseb (1&2), MotorikPlus (U3/Ü3), seldak, sismik, and perik. Individual forms can also be added on request.

One of the key digital benefits is the direct link between the documentation and the respective child, and automatic evaluation enables multiple observation periods to be compared at a glance. In addition to quantitative results, the system can also be used for qualitative documentation and to derive educational activities. All data is stored securely and can be accessed at any time by authorized persons.

Capturing learning moments digitally: The portfolio in the KITALINO app

In the KITALINO daycare app, the digital portfolio is a practical and child-centered way to document learning moments with the kids in a timely, individualized, and everyday way. When a meaningful moment is observed, it can be captured directly on a tablet and immediately transferred to a digital portfolio or learning story with pictures and text together with the child. The entries can be viewed and edited together at any time and printed out if necessary.

Digital development support in everyday daycare life

The KITALINO daycare app offers a wide range of options for freely documenting children's development and everyday experiences – regardless of age and in line with everyday life. Observations can be recorded spontaneously via text, photo, video, or audio and explored in more depth directly in dialogue with the child. The app makes it possible to organize all media centrally, store it securely, and find it again at any time using the integrated search function.

Data protection-compliant communication between daycare centers and parents

KITALINO facilitates communication between educational professionals and parents through an easy-to-use, data protection-compliant parent app. Professionals can easily invite parents or other authorized persons by email. After downloading the app, parents receive messages, appointments, and attachments directly on their smartphones. Portfolios and media can also be shared directly with parents via the app. Push notifications ensure that they always stay informed—quickly, reliably, and securely.
