Bremen, May 3, 2021 – Empty beaches, no guests in hotels, closed leisure attractions – the effects of the coronavirus crisis are clearly felt in the tourism sector. Many people are longing to finally be able to go on vacation again. To offer the industry and travelers some perspective, team neusta and A3M Global Monitoring GmbH have developed the OK2Travel widget. The tool shows whether and under what conditions travel to a destination is currently possible. It can be used on the websites of travel agencies, OTAs, tour operators, and media outlets.
As part of their partnership, the IT service provider and A3M have found a way to make travel easier in times of COVID-19 and to help boost the tourism industry. By entering the travel period and destination region in the widget, travelers can check whether and under what conditions travel is possible. The widget displays information regarding testing and quarantine requirements for entry and return travel. Information on travel facilitation for vaccinated individuals is also clearly displayed.
“The OK2Travel widget is the first project we have implemented in collaboration with our partner A3M. With this solution, we want to make a meaningful contribution to the tourism industry and facilitate vacation travel in these challenging times,” says Dr. Heinz Kierchhoff, Managing Director of team neusta. “Whether you're a tour operator, OTA, travel agency, or media website, the demand for travel information will remain enormous regardless of the progress of the vaccination campaign,” adds A3M CEO Tom Dillon. “With the new widget, website operators can offer their users significant added value. We are therefore all the more delighted that we can jointly present the new feature to the market so quickly.”
Implementation of the project
While the idea and content came from A3M, team neusta was responsible for the technical implementation. "In A3M, we have an experienced partner at our side with expertise in information and communication systems and effective crisis management. Combined with the know-how of our subsidiaries team neusta Switzerland, neusta destination solutions, and neusta experience, we were able to implement the project quickly and effectively," says Kierchhoff. The OK2Travel widget is a web component implemented with Angular 11. This allows for flexible use in any web environment. One of the advantages is that it can be easily integrated into existing online presences as a plug-and-play solution. To offer customers maximum cost control in these challenging times, the widget is based on a license model at a fixed monthly price, which also takes into account the type of business activity and the size of the company.
