Corona travel check for the tourism and media industry

Bremen, May 03, 2021 - Empty beaches, no guests in the hotels, closed leisure attractions - the effects of the coronavirus crisis are clearly being felt in the tourism sector. Many people are longing to finally be able to go on vacation again. In order to offer the industry and travelers a perspective, team neusta and A3M Global Monitoring GmbH have developed the OK2Travel widget. The tool shows whether and under what conditions travel to a destination is currently possible. It can be used on the websites of travel agencies, OTAs, tour operators and media titles.

As part of their partnership, the IT service provider and A3M have found a way to make traveling easier in times of Corona and to give the tourism industry a boost. By entering the travel period and destination region in the widget, travelers can check whether and under what conditions a trip is possible. The widget displays information regarding testing and quarantine obligations on entry and return. Information on travel concessions for people who have been vaccinated is also clearly displayed.

"The OK2Travel widget is the first project that we have implemented in collaboration with our partner A3M. With this solution, we want to make a meaningful contribution to the tourism industry and make vacation travel easier in these challenging times," says Dr. Heinz Kierchhoff, Managing Director of team neusta. "Whether tour operator, OTA, travel agency or media website - the need for information about travel will remain enormous regardless of the progress of the vaccination campaign," adds A3M CEO Tom Dillon. "The new widget offers website operators great added value for their users. We are all the more pleased that we can present the new feature to the market so quickly together."

Implementation of the project

While the idea and content came from A3M, team neusta was responsible for the technical implementation. "With A3M, we have an experienced partner at our side with expertise in information and communication systems as well as effective crisis management. In combination with the know-how of our subsidiaries team neusta Schweiz, neusta destination solutions and neusta experience, we were able to implement the project quickly and effectively," says Kierchhoff. The OK2Travel widget is a web component that was implemented using Angular 11. This allows it to be used flexibly in any web environment. One of the advantages: It can be easily integrated into existing online presences as a plug-and-play solution. In order to offer customers maximum cost control in these challenging times, the widget is based on a license model at a fixed monthly price, which also takes into account the type of business activity and the size of the company.
