Project shortcuts

Hengst Filtration, a family-owned company based in Münster, was founded in 1958 and has developed into a leading global provider of filtration solutions and fluid management. With over 3,500 employees at 25 locations worldwide, Hengst stands for innovation and quality in filtration technology. Within the project, we were faced with the challenging task of developing a powerful B2B e-commerce platform that could be seamlessly integrated into Hengst Filtration's existing IT systems. At the same time, the parallel development of a product information management (PIM) system and the implementation of new ERP interfaces had to be taken into account. The aim was to create a flexible and future-proof solution that would meet the company's complex requirements. To meet this requirement, we implemented the project using agile project management methods. This approach made it possible to react flexibly to changing requirements and ensure close collaboration between the teams involved. By continuously optimizing the solution, we were able to successfully integrate the various systems and create a scalable, efficient platform that meets Hengst Filtration's high standards.

Project milestones

  • Analysis and requirements phase:

The project began with an intensive analysis phase in which the requirements for the B2B platform were recorded in targeted workshops. At the same time, there was close coordination with other project teams and external service providers on the customer side. This structured collaboration laid the foundation for a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and requirements and enabled a flexible response to changes in plans or new needs.

  • Development of the B2B e-commerce platform:

The development phase began based on the results of the analysis phase. The team used an iterative approach to continuously expand and optimize the platform. Right from the start, we relied on the integration of the Composable Storefront as the SAP standard front end for modern headless architectures. This approach ensures a user-friendly UX with a uniform user experience across all product ranges. New features and functions were integrated on an ongoing basis, which not only improved user-friendliness, but also increased the performance and flexibility of the platform. This approach ensured the long-term success of the solution and created tangible added value for Hengst Filtration and its customers.

  • Integration of PIM and ERP interfaces:

A product information management (PIM) system was set up and new ERP interfaces implemented in parallel with the platform development. This required close coordination between the teams involved to ensure smooth integration. The focus was on creating a future-proof and scalable system landscape. SAP Commerce Cloud, SAP Integration Suite and SAP ERP (SAP ECC) were used to ensure seamless integration.

  • Agile project management:

The entire project was managed using agile methods, which enabled quick and efficient reactions to changes. Regular coordination and close collaboration between all parties involved promoted the continuous optimization of the solution. This flexibility ensured that the platform was always adapted to current requirements and that short-term adjustments could be implemented smoothly.

  • Acceptance and go-live of the platform:

Following successful development and extensive testing, the platform was seamlessly integrated into the existing IT infrastructure. The go-live marked the completion of the project and the transition to productive operation, which fulfills Hengst Filtration's complex requirements and provides a scalable basis for future developments.

Efficient B2B platform strengthens global competitiveness

The newly developed B2B e-commerce platform enables Hengst Filtration to interact more efficiently and in a more targeted manner with business customers and to optimally fulfill their specific requirements. This implementation consolidates Hengst's position as a leader in filtration technology and strengthens its global competitiveness and ability to grow further.
