team neusta implements relaunch for police union

Digital experts are making websites and apps more modern and user-friendly.

Bremen, November 14, 2024 – A uniform, modern design for all websites of the federal executive committee, state districts, and districts, as well as an informative, more user-friendly app – this is the result of the relaunch that team neusta successfully implemented for the German Police Union (GdP). In addition, editorial processes were simplified and a flexible platform structure was implemented in Pimcore. “The more appealing design and greater user-friendliness are intended to focus on attracting and retaining members,” says Fabian Gutsche, CDO and member of the Executive Board of team neusta.

The relaunch pursued several strategic goals: a new, modern design for the websites of all state and district offices, a central content management system (CMS) and digital asset management (DAM) for all editorial offices, and a flexible platform structure. Another goal was to simplify editorial processes. These are of great importance to editors, as many of them work on a voluntary basis and are not professional users of CMS systems. The platform was therefore designed to minimize errors and maximize user-friendliness. For example, a manual for editors was integrated into the backend to assist with content creation and management. In addition, there were many different requirements from the federal executive committee, the state districts, and the districts, which were bundled, consolidated, and prioritized by the project team. “Thanks to close, cooperative, and constructive collaboration with the GdP, we were able to successfully overcome challenges and implement the project within the specified time frame,” summarizes Gutsche.

Special functions and features

The new website offers various functions that are specifically tailored to the needs of GdP members and editors:

  • Login area: This area is a secure member area where members have access to exclusive content.
  • Job exchange: This allows GdP members to easily exchange and search for new places of work.
  • Integrated editor's manual: The manual helps volunteer editors with content creation and management.
  • Self-management of member data: GdP members can update and manage their data independently in a secure member area.
  • Integrated seminar management: There is a clear and user-friendly way to manage training opportunities.

GdP app supports everyday police work

The GdP app has also been fundamentally redesigned to provide even better support for all police employees in their everyday work. The app's various modules offer useful information, such as the “Streifenhelfer” (patrol assistant), which enables users to quickly search for relevant facts digitally. The app was developed according to the “offline first” principle, meaning that it is fully functional even without an internet connection. Data protection and security were at the forefront of the redesign, so that no user data is sent to servers. The app was modernized based on numerous expert interviews in order to better take into account the needs of police officers. Special attention was paid to revising the shift planner to provide a more intuitive user experience. The app now offers a redesigned dashboard that provides direct access to the most important modules and top news.

Further developments

The project is being further developed jointly by the GdP and team neusta. Gutsche gives an outlook on further cooperation: “The portal is currently in the service phase, with further enhancements and updates planned. The next step is the native integration of a newsletter tool directly from Pimcore, which will be multi-client capable. We look forward to continuing our cooperation.”
